ABSTRACT
Objetive: To determine the relationship between anxiety, grades and cardiovascular
risk in patients of a cardiometabolic clinic.
Material and Method: An observational, analytical, prospective, cross-sectional
study done from January to December 2017 in patients of a cardiometabolic clinic. The
Clinical Anxiety Scale was applied, the cardiometabolic risk factors were characterized
and the CVR calculation was applied with the score of the SEH and the SEC version 2018.
Results: There were included 183 patients, of which 79% presented a degree of anxiety;
insulin resistance, hypertriglyceridemia, hypertension and endothelial dysfunction
were more frequent in subjects with anxiety. There was no direct relationship between
the degree of anxiety and cardiovascular risk, but it was between the score of the escale
of anxiety and the sympathetic response to orthostatism. Neither was there a greater
probability of cardiometabolic alterations in the presence of anxiety.
Conclusions: No direct relationship was found between anxiety and cardiovascular
risk, but there was a greater frequency of cardiometabolic alterations in the anxious
subjects.
