ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to analyze cross-sectional relationships
between quality of life (QOL), body weight self-perception
and feeding risk behaviors, by gender among Mexican adolescents.
Data were collected in the year 2010 from 177 high
school students (61% women) aged 14-16 years. An online selfadministered
questionnaire (perceptual module of the YQOL-R
instrument), and seven items adapted from the YRBS-2007 to
measure body weight were applied. Higher QOL was found
for those adolescents who reported to be near their right weight
compared to those who were trying to stay in the same weight.
The lowest QOL was for people who reported overweight and
women who were trying to lose weight. Only women showed
differences between QOL with low score for those who had
overweight and those who were trying to lose weight.
