ABSTRACT
With the study of the electrocardiogram, another level of knowledge is achieved: vectorcardiogram, repolarization and depolarization, increased cavity, arrhythmias, conduction disorders, among others. The Bazett’s formula to calculate the corrected QT and other formulas have allowed to understand the mathematical modeling of the heart. Determining the cardiac electrical axis is a useful parameter to study certain types of diseases: cardiac ischemia, arterial hypertension, electrolyte disturbances, hypothyroidism, among others. This paper aims to review the different methods to locate and calculate the mean electrical axis of the QRS. These methods include: location the quadrant in a coordinate system, the isoelectric, graphic, Grant, form rCis (α), nomogram and the variants of tangent and arctangent.
