ABSTRACT
It is essential to implement changes in our perception of prevention and treatment with respect to health, which are relevant for our country; namely integral care in pediatric population, especially in view of the increase of chronic diseases in this age group. It should be pointed out that there is insufficient experience on this matter. Based on the information obtained in experts’ meetings of Latin America, there is the opportunity for our Institute to become a model for this project of integral work where pediatricians establish a link with different specialists in order to provide attention to the family, and to monitor the psychomotor and social development of their child. This will permit to identify alterations of this process; to evaluate and identify behavior emotional and social disorders in patients with a medical condition which alters someone of these aspects. Such is the case when there is a chronic disease in this age group. This area is Pediatric Psychology which is practiced by interdisciplinary team who attends child with chronic disease and his family.
