ABSTRACT
Background: Supraventricular tachycardia is the most frequent arrhythmia in children. We present a clinical case of supraventricular tachycardia in an infant, with whom we want to review the diagnosis and therapeutic management of this entity.Clinical case: A 35-day-old infant who came to our hospital due to feed rejection, who was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia and secondary left dilated heart failure.
Conclusions: The supraventricular tachycardia in childhood constitutes a medical emergency, difficult to diagnose due to the nonspecificity clinical manifestations in young infants, before which the pediatrician must act with the utmost haste and efficiency following the current action protocols, reiterating that in no case is it advisable to delay treatment to avoid possible progression to heart failure.
