Las infecciones del tracto urinario afectan hombres y mujeres de todas las edades, usualmente se resuelven sin ninguna complicación, pero en algunos casos persiste como una ITU recurrente tratada en su mayoría con profilaxis antibiótica aumentando la problemática de resistencia bacteriana. En este punto parece ser necesario iniciar la búsqueda de otras opciones terapéuticas como el Vaccinium macrocarpon claramente su uso debe ser en un grupo de pacientes previamente seleccionados.
