Lesiones axonales difusas en niños con trauma craneoencefálico

RESUMEN
La lesión axonal difusa (LAD) es un componente frecuente en el traumatismo craneoencefálico (TCE), el término es usado para definir el daño estructural, grave y difuso de la materia blanca cerebral, que resulta de la energía mecánica ejercida sobre la cabeza, causa estado de coma, y finalmente discapacidad permanente o a la muerte. Por ahora el mejor tratamiento para la LAD, siguen siendo la prevención y la promoción de las medidas de seguridad, que resultarán en la disminución de las cifras de la morbiletalidad. El presente trabajo hace una revisión de la LAD en niños.
