Bacteriemia asociada a catéter por Kluyvera cryocrescens: reporte de caso y revisión

RESUMEN
Antecedentes. Kluyvera cryocrescens es un bacilo gram negativo, oxidasa negativo, nitrito positivo, fermentador de
glucosa. Aunque anteriormente se le consideraba un saprofito benigno, existen reportes de infecciones ocasionadas
por este microorganismo. Se reporta el primer caso en México de bacteriemia ocasionada por
K. cryocrescens
en una paciente portadora de ileostomía con antecedente de diabetes tipo 2 e hipertensión arterial, con infección
primaria en el catéter vascular.
Se hizo revisión de la literatura a través de una investigación en Pubmed de los casos descritos hasta la fecha.
Resultados. Sólo se han reportado 13 casos, principalmente bacteriemia, la relación por sexo fue similar, siete
mujeres y seis hombres, con un rango de edad desde las tres semanas de vida hasta los 85 años (media de 36
años). La gran mayoría presentó alguna comorbilidad y la tasa de mortalidad calculada en estos casos fue de 23%.
Conclusiones. K. cryocrescens es un patógeno que potencialmente puede causar infecciones severas, con predilección
por individuos inmunodeprimidos y con múltiples comorbilidades.
