ABSTRACT
Depression is a mental disorder that affects more than 30 million people worldwide, becoming a public health problem. In México, depression in college students is a common problem that affects their physical and psychological health. Objective: To compare depressive symptomatology of three generations of students of the first semester of psychology. Participants: an incidental sample of 227 psychology students from the state of Veracruz, 180 women and 47 men, with an age range of 17 to 30 years, with a mean of 18.70 and standard deviation of 1.6; members of 3 generations. Instrument: The Depression Scale of the Center for Epidemiological Studies (CESD-R) by González-Forteza et al. (2008). Results: the men and women of the most recent generation had the highest levels of depressive symptomatology. Conclusion: It is important to continue evaluating the depressive symptoms of future psychologists, because they will attend to this type of problem in the population and, in turn, will prevent and detect the presence of other psychological disorders that may affect the student's health and performance.REFERENCES
