ABSTRACT
Capsular contracture is the most common complication of breast augmentation that may require surgical reintervention. The gold standard to correct it is total capsulectomy, a traumatic procedure. The objective of this work is to propose a surgical procedure to correct capsular contracture with replacement of breast implants and change of surgical surface. We carried out a descriptive cross-sectional study of 10 patients, with Baker III and IV Grade capsular contracture. Prior to the surgery, all the patients had distortion in the implant and in the shape of the breast, firmness or palpable rigidity, tension and hardening sensation, pain and visible and palpable contracture. Positive aesthetic results were obtained as well as an improvement in the psychological well-being of the patients. Only one patient had a recurrence of the Baker II Grade capsular contracture and did not require reoperation. We conclude that it is an alternative innovative treatment, less traumatic and one that reduces the likelihood of recurrence by repositioning the implant on a virgin surface.
