ABSTRACT
Uterine rupture refers to the complete disruption of all the layers that it is composed of, which can compromise the fetal and / or maternal survival. Most ruptures are related to a history of previous uterine surgeries. Therefore the more surgeries there have been, the greater the risk of presenting this complication. In this paper we describe the case of a 33-year-old female, Grávida 3 C-section 1 Para 2 presented with uterine rupture at late post partum. This article reviews the clinical manifestations, diagnosis and surgical treatment practiced. The patient came to the emergency department 11 days after an instrumented and induced delivery, presenting with diffuse colic abdominal pain. The physical examination revealed acute abdomen data. Tomography of the abdomen and pelvis was performed observing signs of uterine rupture. Complementary studies showed iron deficiency anemia. We decided to perform an exploratory laparotomy, observing complete uterine rupture at the site of previous surgery with left lateral extension compromising the round and broad ligament. The procedure (laparotomy) was performed without complications. The patient’s course went with adequate postoperative evolution and without complication.
