ABSTRACT
Report of six cases of maxillary protraction supported with miniplates surgical fixation in patients with diagnosis sequel of unilateral and bilateral LPH, with an average age of 13.4 years, and divided into four unilateral and two bilateral cases. The use of intermaxillary elastics without extraoral support is a advantage over the protraction mask, by the constancy of the forces, and hours of use that are increased by the comfort of the patient; the bone structures are stimulated effectively minimizing dentoalveolar compensation getting overtaking of maxillary point A, 6 mm on average, with modification of the facial center improving the skeletal and dental relationship as well as the self-esteem of patients. The sixth bilateral patient was discarded because osseointegration of the osteosynthesis material was not achieved, conditioning the loosening of the plates, which did not allow the protraction, there were no complications with the material osteosynthesis. Study carried out at the facilities of UNITEC.
