ABSTRACT
Psychological tests, a specially, intelligence scales are periodically
updated, but the comparative studies between the versions
that consider their psychological functions are scarce. In
this respect, the aim of this study was to analyze the correlation
between the Perceptual Organization Index (POI) from the
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Adults-III (WAIS-III) and the
Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI) from the WAIS-IV, so both
subtests were administered to ten young subjects ranging from
20 to 34 years old. Among the two general indexes, a significant
correlation was found (r =0,723, p = 0,018). Significant correlations
between Block Design III and Figure Weights (r =
0.826, p= 0.003) and between Block Design IV and Figure
Weights (r = 0.663, p = 0.037) were found. Among common
subtests of the two versions, there was a not significant marginal
relationship, between Matrix Reasoning III and Matrix
Reasoning (r = .596, p = 0.069). Between the Object Assembly
and the Visual Puzzles subtests there was no relationship. The
absence of an association between Visual Puzzles and Figure
Weights is discussed in terms of whether they should really be
in the PRI as they do not contribute to the measurement of the
indexes in study.
