ABSTRACT
This is a case report of a male patient born at 36 weeks of gestation, with a history of being son of a diabetic mother treated with metformin and insulin, with events of hyperglycemia and no reports of her glycosylated hemoglobin. There was a prenatal ultrasound with evidence of polyhydramnios. Multiple dysmorphic features and metabolic disturbances (hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, and hypocalcemia) were detected at birth. He was subsequently studied for systemic infectious processes, anemia, metabolic acidosis, and apneas. A transfontanellar ultrasound was performed, reporting intraventricular hemorrhage grade II. At the 7th day of life, he presented an episode of seizures, so a magnetic resonance was performed and it showed semilobar holoprosencephaly, hypoplasia of both optic nerves with a decrease of the anterior chamber and fused lateral ventricles.
