ABSTRACT
The knowledge of the HBV genome and
proteome has contributed considerably to the
improvement of serological diagnosis and to the
development of a recombinant vaccine, molecular
diagnosis and antiviral treatments. Currently, clinical
studies are developed in order to know the role that
play the genetic variability of the HBV, the
environmental and genetic factors of the host in the
natural evolution of HBV infection; as well as, to
understand how these factors influence in the
treatment response. Nowadays, it is very important
to understand the molecular basis of HBV infection,
diagnosis and treatment in order to have a good
clinical application.
