Genómica y proteómica del virus de la Hepatitis B

RESUMEN
El conocimiento del genoma y proteoma del VHB
ha contribuido considerablemente al desarrollo de
mejores métodos diagnósticos serológicos y
moleculares, de una vacuna recombinante y de
tratamientos antivirales. Actualmente, se están
desarrollando ensayos clínicos con el objeto de
conocer más acerca de el papel que juega la
variabilidad genética del virus y los factores
ambientales y genéticos del hospedero en la
evolución natural de la infección por el VHB; así
también para conocer como esos factores influyen
en el tratamiento de esta infección. En estos tiempos
es muy importante entender las bases moleculares
de la infección por el VHB, del diagnóstico y del
tratamiento con el objeto de aplicarlo adecuadamente
en la clínica.
