ABSTRACT
Introduction: There is variety urine dipstick for chemical urine exam; clinical experience and concordance tests show various results in duplicated samples. Clinical impact in diagnostic or therapeutic decisions creates the necessity to know relationship between
Combur10Test® M and
Multistix® 10 SG dipsticks, at analyze fresh urine samples, as example of clinical field.
Methods: Outpatient’s urine was examined in General Hospital “Dr. Agustín O’Horan”. Duplicated samples were processed between two hours after their collection. We were used
Combur10Test® M (C) and
Multistix® 10 SG (M) dipsticks with Miditrón Jr and Clinetek 50 equipments. Order process included a random method. Liquicheck Urinalysis Control been used in quality control. Spearman and Kendall correlation tests were employed to statistical analysis.
Results: Correlation tests shows for pH values r = 0.91 (
p = 0.0001); specific density r = 0.77 (
p ‹ 0.0001); leucocytes r = 0.90 (
p ‹ 0.0001); glucose r = 0.99 (
p ‹ 0.0001). Nitrite results were equal in 100%. Proteins r = 0.65 (
p ‹ 0.0001); ketones 0.99 (
p ‹ 0.0001); urobilinogen 0.81 (
p ‹ 0.0001); bilirrubins 0.66 (
p ‹ 0.0001), and blood 0.87 (
p ‹ 0.0001).
Conclusions: Correlations tests between
Combur10Test® M were excellent in pH, leucocytes, glucose, nitrite and ketones; very well in specific gravity, urobilinogen and blood, and moderate in proteins and bilirrubins to compare with
Multistix® 10 SG, in chemical urine analysis of fresh samples.
