Exposición laboral a plaguicidas y efectos en la salud de trabajadores florícolas de Ecuador

ABSTRACT
Objective: Determine the health effects wing workers exposure used in floriculture agribusiness pesticides. Materials and methods: Transversal and analytical study, carried out in 114 floriculture workers of both sexes, a socio-demographic and occupational questionnaire was used to identify symptoms felt a questionnaire on morbidity and Psychological Symptoms Questionnaire and psychoneurological was applied. Results: The workers earned an average age of 28.89 (+/- 7.09) in a range of 18 to 48 years, 55% were men and the remaining women, 56% work 40 hours a week, while working in the flowers are an average of 6.28 (+/- 5.3) years, as to the type of exposure are in direct exposure to 33%, the remaining percentage indirect exposure to organophosphates, carbamates, pyrethroids, among others, reported morbidity presented problems in the respiratory and nervous systems with 19 and 14% respectively in the questionnaire of neurological and psychoneurological symptoms in its five dimensions had symptoms between 41 and 64% of workers, (headache, loss of memory and concentration, insomnia , irritability). Conclusions: Exposure to pesticides of different toxicological groups in floriculture workers may be causing major problems to your health especially the nervous system, so it is important to start with measures to reduce or eliminate health effects thereof.REFERENCES
