ABSTRACT
Various strategies have been used to reverse the high rates of
both diabetes and obesity, but a major obstacle is the lack of
adherence to treatment. The main aim of this work was to
design and implement a program of adherence to diet to reduce
mass index and body weight in subjects with diabetes mellitus
type 2.
Methodology: pre-post design with a nonrandom sample
with 100 subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus who attended
medical consultation in health centers in Mexico City and
surrounding areas. The methodology included a stage of
preliminary evaluation, another one about intervention through
three blocks and a final evaluation stage. Because of the preexperiemntal
design it is not possible to claim differences
founded are the result of the intervention program, however we
can sugest this workshop provides relevant information and
considerations about how to plan and develop a program to
reduce weight and body mass in diabetic subjects.
Results: We
found significant differences between rates of weight and body
mass. Results are analyzed according to the psychological
model of biological health, among others.
