ABSTRACT
Alimentary tract duplications are rare congenital malformations. Gastric duplications account for 2 to 7% of all gastrointestinal duplications. Eighty-five percent of them manifest within the first two years of life. Adult diagnosis are incidental findings at abdominal ultrasound or computer tomography. Typically, they are non-communicating spherical cystic tumors, along the greater curvature of the stomach, adjacent to the gastric wall. The cyst is lined by gastric mucosa and a smooth muscle coat, often accompanied by patches of respiratory epithelium and ectopic pancreatic tissue. Complete removal is the treatment of choice to avoid the risk of possible complications. Laparoscopic surgery should be considered. This is an unusual case of gastroesophageal junction duplication in an adult, that was completely removed by laparoscopy.
