ABSTRACT
Rotator cuff injuries in athletes have particular characteristics derived from the high demand of the shoulder required to achieve competitive performance. In a bibliographical review of articles with relevance for rotator cuff injuries in athletes, we selected the most important aspects that help in the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches according to symptoms, clinical and imaging findings, as well as the treatment regimen and the functional prognosis, since —primarily in launching sports— there are high expectations of returning to pre-injury performance levels.
