ABSTRACT
Background: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment
indicated for the management of non-melanoma skin cancer.
Recently, it has taken a more active role in skin rejuvenation.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) remains the most natural element and its
injection, the procedure most frequently applied in microinjection,
for comprehensive skin revitalization.
Objectives: Demonstrate the effectiveness of the combination
of PDT + HA in rejuvenating the neckline, evaluating parameters
such as elasticity, age spots, fine wrinkles and radiance.
Materials and methods: A series of 17 patients were evaluated,
divided into three study arms: only PDT, only HA and PDT
+ HA (combined group). A visit treatment for the PDT group
isolated and three treatment sessions for the other two groups
was performed with a single session of PDT and three ha (one
injection every 15 days). In the combined group, in the first session
both therapies were performed. The final evaluation was
carried out one month after the last session.
Results: Better results were observed in the combined therapy
group and a differential improvement in the four parameters
evaluated in the three groups in general, but more statistical
significance in the combination therapy arm.
Conclusions: The combination of PDT + hyaluronic acid injections,
technique, called Photovital in this study, is simple and
safe atraumatic and effective in rejuvenating the neckline, as
stain method, brightness, elasticity and fine wrinkles refers.
