ABSTRACT

Venous thromboembolism is the most frequent preventable cause of intrahospital complication. Certain patient characteristics, the type of procedure and the cause of hospitalization are directly related to the risk of venous thromboembolism. The patients undergoing bariatric surgery is categorized as a high risk patient because of the present comorbidities like hepatopathies, arterial hypertension and other diseases. Because of this it is crucial to establish a specific prevention method designed for each patient that will be summited to bariatric surgery.
