ABSTRACT
Introduction. The management and treatment of ectopic pregnancy has impressively evolved in recent years, currently predominating a conserving management, both medical and surgical, depending on fertility despite the increase in tubal disorders.
Methods. A
quasi-experimental, prospective and longitudinal study was conducted in patients who attended the Emergency Room at CIMEQ Hospital. They were assisted due to pain in the lower abdomen, abnormal uterine bleeding and/or amenorrhea. They underwent diagnostic laparoscopy, and ampullary ectopic pregnancy was detected. The sample was composed of 200 patients with the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy, so the conventional technique of longitudinal conservative surgery was performed in the period 2004-2007. Beta hcg hormone test, transvaginal and/or abdominal ultrasonogram, and tracking new intrauterine pregnancies and recurrence of ectopic pregnancy with the use of longitudinal conserving surgery were analyzed.
Results. 178 patients with suspected ectopic pregnancy were found to be positive pregnancy to the test for Beta hcg and 22 negative. After surgery 19 intrauterine pregnancies were achieved and 22 recurrence of ectopic pregnancies.
Conclusions. It was shown that in using the technique by linear salpingostomy new intrauterine pregnancies were achieved, but recurrence of ectopic pregnancies were not removed.
