ABSTRACT
Gingival recession is one of the most frequent alterations in the tissues
supporting the teeth; two etiological factors are involved: traumatic
brushing or a sign of loss in the periodontal tissues. Often dentin hypersensitivity
is reported, being uncomfortable for the patient. One of the
reconstructive procedures is the subepithelial connective tissue graft,
which is a free gingival graft. It involves obtaining tissue commonly
accomplished in the palatal mucosa and which is placed in one or several
roots covering it with a flap displaced coronal In order to achieve
root coverage. This technique achieves a root coverage, consequently
reducing hypersensitivity and good aesthetics, which is considered the
most favorable and successful in most cases surgical therapy. The present
clinical case refers to a patient with gingival recession Miller Class
II in maxillary canine (tooth 13) treated with this procedure eventually
covering with soft tissue recession of 100% and an increase in keratinized
tissue with great aesthetic is presented in the following article. In
conclusion, the subepithelial connective tissue graft described in this
case report represents a good treatment option for root coverage and
elimination of dentin hypersensitivity.
