ABSTRACT
Nutritional status is linked to diet and immune syste, mechanisms. Nutritional imbalance may relate to impaired immune response by low quality T and B cells responses, such as phagocytosis, cytokine production, increasing risk to infections and defficient tissue repair processes. The mantaining of immune system well funtioning requires liposoluble and hidrosuloble vitamins, minerals and fatty acids.
Conclusions: a better understunding of specific action mechanisms and signaling pathways of immune system and nutrients is required, including postoperative recovery. Regarding cancer consider type of tumor, affected organs and relationship with neoadyuvant therapies applied to these patients.
