ABSTRACT
In the mechanism of subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with RA, it described the influence of the presence of traditional risk factors like autoimmune inflammatory process and mechanism. Autoantibodies, autoantigens, proinflammatory cytokines and infectious agents play a important role in this process. In RA, there has been an increased incidence of atherosclerosis accelerated; in patients with RA, vascular function is impaired and the process of atherosclerosis seems It is accelerated due to various factors, such as increased arterial stiffness, elasticity reductions blood, deterioration in endothelial response, increased thickness of the intima-media and content coronary calcium, which are modified due to the presence of severe inflammation present in these subjects and, in turn, they represent an increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality
