ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the influence of cardiovascular hyper reactivity and burnout syndrome in the progression to hypertension among workers.
Method: A cohort study of two years of evolution in 126 workers treated at the Occupational Clinic of the National Institute for Workers' Health (Insat) of Havana was performed (2012-2014). Two groups were formed: cardiovascular hyper reactives (44), and cardiovascular normo reactives (82), after of sustained weight test was applicable. To evaluate the psychological wear the Maslach Burnout Inventory scale was applied. Hypertension was determined at two years of follow-up. χ
2 test and
Student's t test was used for comparison between groups.
Results: A significant association between cardiovascular hyper reactivity (CVHR) and HBP (Contingency coefficient: 0,305; p=0,000). HTA association was found with sex, age and body mass index (p=0,01; 0,05; 0,000 95% confidence). The burnout syndrome did not correlate with the development of hypertension in any of its dimensions.
Conclusions: CVHR is a predictor of hypertension determined by the test of sustained weight. The possibility of stratifying the working population as cardiovascular hyper reactivity to perform preventive health actions on modifiable cardiovascular risk factors in hypertensive future in the workplace.
