ABSTRACT
Introduction: the use of resuscitation fluids is one of the most frequent interventions in clinical practice. The choice, timing of administration and doses of intravenous fluids should be evaluated as carefully as any intravenous drug, in order to maximize their effectiveness and minimize complications of its use.
Methods: analyze current criteria and strategies for volume replacement and its side effects in the specific case of the injured patient complex according to the literature reviewed.
Developing: this paper, based on the latest scientific books and articles on the subject, does an update on recent findings that justified from a scientific point of
view, the application of the criteria for volume replacement in the complex specifically injured patient.
Conclusión: it is not reasonable to administer intravenous fluids vigorously before hemorrhage control, but manage to maintain enough TAM TAS around 50 mmHg or
80 mmHg. The first element of resuscitation is to control the source of bleeding.
