ABSTRACT
In order to determine the behavior of citation indexes of health research in Cuba, processed in Scopus in the period from 2009-2013, regarding a selected group of Latin American countries, the data supplied by Scival were examined, its platform for scientometric studies, according to areas of knowledge, based on three indicators: average citations received by the contributions, per cent of articles cited and number of citing countries. Citation indexes of health contributions of Cuba, in relation to the countries studied, except Neuroscience and Medicine categories were the lowest ones. There is mismatch between the development achieved by the health sector in the country, internationally recognized, the volume of scientific production, according to Scopus, and their citation rates compared with countries in the region, chosen for the study.REFERENCES
