Relationship of the physical-chemical properties with the pharmacological activity of Zuedania guidonia (guaguasí)

ABSTRACT
It was carried out an experimental study to characterize from the phytochemical point of view the dyes obtained by means of: maceration, percolation and ultrasound from the leaves and bark of the Zuedania guidonia (guaguasí), through the phytochemical screening, with the objective of relating the physical-chemical characteristics of the extracts obtained with the pharmacological activity attributed to this plant, which has not been demonstrated scientifically. In the extracts obtained from the leaves and bark there were identified the phenol, tannins, quinonas, triterpenoids, steroids, free amino acids, coumaronna, saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids and sugar reducers. Particularly in the extracts obtained from the leaves there were identified the quinonas, triterpenoids and steroids. It was demonstrated that the presence of secondary metabolites identified in the leaves and the bark of the plant had a close relationship with the pharmacological activity attributed to this species.REFERENCES
