ABSTRACT
The testicular microlithiasis is a rare condition with a characteristic ultrasonographic appearance of scattered microscopic calcifications and histological by the presence of intraluminal calcifications in the seminiferous tubules. Is usually an incidental finding during the radiological evaluation of the testicle. To know the incidence of testicular microlithiasis and its relation with the bilateral testicular development of neoplasias in patients with testicular germinal tumors of the hospital in a 30 months period that was the continuation of a review made of 24 months before. It was studied clinical stage, histology tumor markers and bilaterality. Microlithiasis characteristics war distinguish in 3 patterns of localization focal central; focal peripheric and diffuse, and sife war divided in 1mm, 2 mm and 3 mm. Eighty one patients with testicular germinal tumors was studied, in our Hospital with testicular ultrasound without evidence of microlithiasis in the healthy testicle and who during their following presented it, of the 81 studied patients, 35 developed testicular microlithiasis (43.2%), 5 patients developed bilateral testicular tumors (6.20%), and 4 patients (4.93%) presented microlithiasis associated to the bilaterality. We can conclude that although the percentage that we obtained was not statistically significant between the association of microlithiasis and neoplasia, patients who have should be monitored by serial ultrasound examinations at intervals no greater than 1 year and also with tumor markers.REFERENCES
