ABSTRACT
The morbidity and mortality in pediatric patients suffering from genetic diseases may be influenced by deregulations of the immune system. The objective of this work is to describe the clinical manifestations and immunoglobulins levels alterations in a group of patients with genetic diseases. A descriptive epidemiologic study for a series of cases was carried out. The sample was formed by 33 pediatric patients with genetic diseases to whom a full hemogram and quantification of G, M and A immunoglobulins by turbidimetry were carried out. The most frequent manifestations suspected to be due to immune deregulation were acute recurrent respiratory infections (95,0 %), recurrent respiratory allergies (76,0 %), recurrent inflammatory inflammations (71,9 %), recurrent bacterial tonsillitis (51,0 %) and recurrent otitis media (46,0 %). The level decrease of at least one of the immunoglobulin isotypes was present in 51,51 %, while 21,2 % of them presented more than one affected isotype, the decrease in IgA being the most frequent class. It was shown that clinical manifestations in genetic disease patients corresponded to the alterations in immunoglobulins.
