ABSTRACT
Dysphonia is defined as the symptom manifested by alterations in
production or quality of voice, pitch or volume which impairs communication
and that has implications on the quality of life. It is present
in multiple disorders or diseases that may be intrinsic to the larynx
or manifestations of systemic diseases; therefore we are faced with a
symptom with a broad spectrum of etiologies with an important impact
on labor and social life and which deserves an appropriate systematic
approach to provide an optimal treatment. In Mexico there’s no clinical
practice guideline, based on the best sustained medical evidence,
in diagnostic and/or therapeutic maneuvers, avoiding unnecessary,
costly steps or involving loss of time for the integral management of
the patient who suffers from it, by what raises this dysphonia clinical
practice guideline based in recommendations according to the quality
of evidence from the medical literature taking into account the GRADE
system to issue these recommendations. Key steps within the medical history are analyzed for diagnostic and therapeutic systematization of
the patient with dysphonia. In general, the guideline deployment shows
a significant reduction in time since the patient’s initial evaluation to
adequate and specific treatment to the basic problem that causes dysphonia,
also avoid both unnecessary diagnostic and therapeutic steps
and reduce the use and abuse of unjustified empirical medication.
