ABSTRACT
The hernia continuous incisional being a challenge for most of the surgeons, in spite of the technological advances that he/she offers the coming of the new century. In many occasions it represents the postoperative failure of the closing of a laparotomy. The objective of the present investigation was to determine the effectiveness of a model of hernioplastia applied incisional to patient with hernia incisional in the Hospital “Dr. Carlos J. Finlay.” A longitudinal prospective study, in the University Hospital Dr. Carlos J. Finlay, the period of understood time the months of September of the 2003 to October of the 2007. The data were picked up consecutively and they were processed by means of the statistical system for Windows. The most affected sex was the feminine one (67,02 %), the hernia incisional you presents with more frequency in understood ages between the 46 and 55 years (42,29 %). According to the diameter of the hernial ring the medium hernias prevailed in 59 patients (49,48 %). The complications that prevailed in the study were the seroma (32,98 %), the sepsis of the surgical wound (2,06 %) and the necrosis of the torn piece (2,06 %). The relapse was presented in 2 patients (2,06 %). The study demonstrating the advantages of the technique proposal and the directly proportional relationship among the diameter of exposed mesh to the subcutaneous cellular fabric and the complications.
