ABSTRACT

Introduction: the main aspect of urethral stricture is the cure not temporary relief. During the last three decades the surgical techniques for urethral reconstruction have had a significant progress. Objectives: to show results of dorsal urethroplasty type Barbagli using Oral mucous. Methods: urethroplast for Barbagly tecnique was practiced in 29 patients in Dr. Agostinho Neto General Hospital, it was since January 2005 to November 2009. The patients were whathed during 37 months. Results: the average length of the stenosis was 5.5 cm, the most frequent location was bulbar and on the penis, 4 patients were reported with pan-urethral stenosis, these inconvenient were attributable to the technique or the origin of the graft. A 93 % of results were reported as successful in a period of 37 months. Conclusions: we are of the opinion we can consider that the oral mucous can be used on any part of the urethra regardless of the length of the stenosis. As a graft technique it shows a very low complication percentage and has very good long term results.
