ABSTRACT
Pregnancy associated cardiomyopathy or peripartum is a form of dilated cardiomyopathy, which resembles in symptoms, pathology and treatment, but is characterized by a better prognosis in most cases, is characterized by heart failure in the last month of pregnancy or in the first five months postpartum, clinical presentation is similar to heart failure of any cause. Preoperative evaluation gives us the risk approach for multi-disciplinary intervention that allows us to preserve the maternal-fetal wellbeing. Anesthetic management is very important to maintain hemodynamic, this is accomplished by preventing myocardial depression producing drugs, maintaining normovolemia and preventing increases in after load. We report the anesthetic management of a patient with early presentation peripartum cardiomyopathy presented to our department at 32 weeks of gestation.
