ABSTRACT
In many times we find patients with a knee arthritis affecting only the patellofemoral joint. For it’s treatment it has been proposed a wide variety of techniques, since conservative treatment with physiotherapy, anti-inflammatory drugs, synovial fluid replacement or cartilage nutrients. It has been proposed too, different opened or arthroscopic surgical techniques, all of them with regular or good results. Patellofemoral arthroplasty was described first in the mid 50´s, improving since then on the materials, designs, surgical procedures and results, even though this technique is not widely accepted. In the present paper we propose this technique with the goal of fixing the problem by replacing only the damaged bone with this prosthesis.REFERENCES
