ABSTRACT
This article presents the challenges and subjects that require more work in order to advance in the inclusion of feminisms and gender perspective in the academic environment. It is stated that the mainstreaming of gender is a strategy to reach equality. However, that it is necessary that other actors intervene in this purpose, like the university itself. The author recognizes the advances that have been made related to the use of the term gender, but, at the same time, she points out the loss of the critical potential of it, since it has been detached from feminism. Despite that both have been scarcely included in university curricula, from where the commitment of university entities emerged; there is a need of more participation of associations, federations and schools of professionals for strengthening academic networks
