ABSTRACT
Teaching therapeutical skills to clinical psychologists is an important topic that deserves attention and implies the comprehension of therapist’s behavior, independently of theoretical basis and methodological procedures correspondent to their different approaches. On literature therapist’s behavior has been pointed as a group of non specific variables that affects the results of intervention. On this paper it is assumed that as psychologists we have professional training that should make possible to study therapist’s behavior as any other behavior, and it is convenient to do it from a solid theoretical model. On this work the theoretical framework is an interbehavioral approach. From this view a study to obtain reliability and content validity of an instrument specially designed to identify some therapist’s behavior is presented. This instrument was developed to explore some consistent behaviors, which are called styles that beyond the psychological approach could be related to the reported success of therapy. The instrument was applied to 69 volunteer therapists and with these data procedures of reliability and validity were executed. Results indicate that the instrument is highly reliable and has content validity. Possible applications of this tool are discussed.
