ABSTRACT
Background: Colorectal diseases are a common cause of morbidity and mortality and their study is essential for proper preparation of the colon.
Objective: To compare three techniques used in colorectal cleaning for performance of imaging tests.
Material and methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, which compared three methods of preparing the colon. The universe was made up of 258 patients.
Results: Magnesium sulfate preparation and Bisacodyl won the largest number of patients with excellent preparation, 74 % of patients reported no adverse effects and 94% reported a good acceptance of the study.
Conclusion: The preparation of the colon with magnesium sulfate, Bisacodyl and diet provided a good cleansing colon, caused fewer adverse effects and was better tolerated by patients.
