ABSTRACT
Introduction: The difficulty with the airway is a serious situation because it increases morbidity and mortality of anesthesia, we decided to evaluate the technique of lifting the head more than 10 cm cervical flexion over 35 degrees to improve glottic visibility.
Materials and methods: Patients who had a predictor of difficult intubation laryngoscopy was performed to assess the extent glottic Cormack-Lehane scale, if they had grade III or IV lift its landing consisting of cephalic head elevation more than 10 cm and cervical flexion to 35 degrees.
Results: We included 306 patients: 197 and 109 had grade III grade IV. In Group III the maneuver decreased to grade II in 91 (46.19%) and grade I in 106 (53.80%) patients. In Group IV this decreased to I in 9 (8.25%) as grade II in 95 (87.15%) as grade III in 3 (2.75%) and remained in grade IV 2 (1.83%).
Conclusion: That this move will help us to better visualize the vocal cords in patients without overweight.
