ABSTRACT
Introduction: The Data Bank of American Traumatic Comma reports the traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (HSAPT) in 40% of patients with trauma of severe skull (PTCG).Objective: To know the correlation the degree of HSAPT with mortality in PTCG.
Patients and methods: Design: cross-sectional analytical in a traumatology hospital (IMSS), we reviewed files of patients entered with skull traumatism (TCE) in the 2004, they classified according to the degree of HSAPT by tomography (CTF) and its mortality. Statistical analysis: measures of frequency and correlation of Spearman.
Results: Of 338 patients, 300 (89%) they presented severe TCE: 40.8% with HSAPT; men (79.7%), age between 15 and 43 years. According to the CTF: 42.7% degree II, 40.5% degree III, 11.7% 2.8% degree IV and degree I. Deceases: 18.8%. Mortality of HSAPT: 3.8% (Fisher I), 30.7% (Fisher II), 42.3% (Fisher III) and 23% (Fisher IV). Correlation of Spearman: 0.2; p ͒ 0.05 for HSAPT degree and mortality.
Conclusions: The severe TCE has greater frequency in degree II and III of HSA by the CTF, but it does not exist significant correlation between the degree of HSAPT and mortality.
