ABSTRACT
Background: antimulleriana hormone is a useful parameter for assessing ovarian reserve and response to ovulation induction in assisted reproduction. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between serum antimulleriana hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, and number of antral follicles in the early follicular phase with the number of retrieved oocytes.
Material and Methods: This prospective study included 39 women aged 20 to 45 years old, attending the Reproductive Medicine Unit of the hospital for IVF treatment between November 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011. Concentrations were determined antimulleriana hormone and follicle stimulating hormone and the number of antral follicles in the early follicular phase. The concentrations were compared and correlated with the type of response to hyperstimulation (normo, hypo or hyper), by ANOVA, multiple comparison tests and Pearson correlations or Spearman.
Results: 25.6% of patients were hiporrespondedoras, 51.2% and 23% hiperrespondedoras normorrespondedoras. There was a positive linear correlation between the hormone antimulleriana, oocytes and hormone antimulleriana captured and the number of antral follicles. There were negative linear correlation between antimulleriana hormone and follicle stimulating hormone. There was no correlation between hormone levels and age antimulleriana. Hormone concentrations antimulleriana & 0.9 ng/mL were associated with normo-or hyper-responsiveness to ovarian stimulation.
Conclusions: In assessing the relationship between serum antimulleriana hormone, follicle stimulating hormone and the number of antral follicles is concluded that the hormone antimulleriana is an excellent marker of ovarian response in women subjected to hyperstimulation protocols. A value of 20.9 antimulleriana hormone predicts ovarian response adequate in terms of number of retrieved oocytes.
