ABSTRACT
Introduction: Capillary hemangiomas are benign vascular neoplasms that can be saw on the skin in childhood, when are associated with the spine these involve the vertebral body, but rarely they have been reported to occur as extradural, while even more rarely occurring in a true intradural lesions, the intramedullary location is extraordinary. Magnetic resonance has allowed to make diagnosis with greater certainty; 30 cases of capillary hemangiomas of intradural, extramedullary have been documented. Only eleven cases of intramedullary location have been described.
Clinical case: 52 years old male patient, member of a family with multiples capillary angiomas. He presents 10 months with incomplete Brown-Séquard syndrome. Magnetic resonance was effectuated for diagnostic; the patient fuses angio-resonance, he was treated with 4 months rehabilitation program, with recuperation of muscular strength but without changes in sensibility.
Conclusion: We report a new case of an intramedullary capillary hemangioma of the thoracic spinal cord. It is important to know about the existence of intramedullary capillary haemangiomas. Despite of being extremely rare, they are benign vascular neoplasms with a good outcome after their complete resection. Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish them of other malignant tumors to avoid overtreatment.
