ABSTRACT

Edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy is a cosmetic skin surface alteration, also known as cellulites or lypodistrophy. There are a lot of treatment options; the objective is to improve appearance. Within the surgical treatment there are subincisions that reduce the depth of skin depressions breaking the septa of collagen fibers which retract the fat lobules. In this study 14 female patients were included who underwent subincisions in the buttocks with Nokor 18G needle. We evaluated satisfaction obtained, reduction in the perception of depression, reduction in depth of the depression, uniformity of skin color and the safety of treatment by measuring adverse events. Treated patients had a 56% reduction in the perception of edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy, a 47% reduction in the depth and 95% in uniformity of skin color after treatment. Only three patients experienced adverse events and these were transient. We concluded that subincision with the Nokor 18G needle is another treatment option for edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy, as it is a safe method with few adverse side effects.
