ABSTRACT
Silent or painless thyroiditis is an uncommon cause of thyrotoxicosis and recurrences are rare and unpredictable. We report two young women who had recurrent silent thyroiditis. We note that in many patients the diagnosis is difficult and recurrent episodes are uncommon. We analyze the possible factors involved in recurrence and we suggest that these patients continue their long-term monitoring at the possibility of developing definitive hypothyroidism or postpartum thyroiditis.
