ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to determine the root coverage, clinical attachment gain and the increasing of keratinized tissue obtained by treating gingival recessions class I and II of Miller by applying the principles of guided tissue regeneration (GTR) with the placement of a high density n-PTFE membrane and compare the results with those obtained with the therapy of connective tissue graft (ITC). In a crossbite study a total of 18 gingival recessions formed the sample, variables to assess was recorded at the beginning, 6 and 9 months after treatment. The results are significantly represented in the values of clinical attachment gain whose final level was 1.88 mm for the ITC and of 1.77 mm for therapy GTR whereas both outcomes within the parameters of periodontal health. Likewise significantly reduced vertical recession to 0.66 mm for the ITC corresponding to the 83.77% of root coverage with the GTR therapy the vertical dimension of the recession was reduced to 0.88 mm equivalent to the 78.55% of coverage of the root; in the horizontal dimension, there was a reduction to 1.88 mm with the periodontal plastic therapy and 1.77 mm in regenerative therapy, represented with a 63.66 and 67.33% of root coverage respectively. The increase in the amount of keratinized gingival was significant only in recessions treated with ITC whose final average size was 4.44 mm.
