ABSTRACT

Background and Objectives: The prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes is increasing dramatically around the World. Costa Rica is no exception, where the current prevalence of Type 2 DM is 5 to 6 %. Given that the Alajuela Subregión is not different to the rest of the country, it is appropriate to know the incidence and the epidemiological data of this group of patients to elaborate a joint standard management plan between first and second level of attention (Local medical officer and regional hospital).
