ABSTRACT
It is important that the patient who presents to the emergency outpatient HPN of IMIEM recognize what is real urgency.
Objective: To determine the frequency and felt real emergency consultations issued in the emergency outpatient IMIEM HPN in the period of May, June and July 2008.
Material and methods: Descriptive, transversal, prospective. Information was collected from 500 patients attending the outpatient Emergency Department at Children’s Hospital For IMIEM. Getting information from the doctor blade of a survey to parents of the patient. For the analysis of information obtained, we used descriptive statistical techniques.
Results: Codes based on the diagnosis made by the doctor were 262 green (52.4%), 188 yellow (37.6), and 50 cells (10%).
Conclusions: The finding in research that 52.4% were green codes, gives an overview of how our health system. We suggest: 1. Improving waiting times when the patient arrives until it is served, 2. Timely detection of conditions that endanger life or function, 3. Prevent saturation in demand for consultation in the Emergency Department, 4. A quick referral to specialties like orthopedics and surgery, 5. Influence the perception of people about the emergency services.
